The Aviators – What do you want from me

We’ve got a nice upbeat popish rhythm with a rather nice guitar line. It’s making me think of summer, hanging out with my friends drinking and doing generally dumb stuff. Not so much lyrically but from the beat. Lyrically it’s a first love story (to me). I could easily see this in a soundtrack for a romcom. I hope that comes off right as I mean that as a total compliment. It would be a great morning song, it’s got that energizing beat and style to it. I like the vocalists voice and the way he tells a story. I get the scantest bit of gravel in his voice in parts of the song that are sheer perfection considering his tone.

 

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: I wasn’t sure the first time I listened, but after the second time around I’ve already got the song stuck in my head (a good thing). So yeah I would listen to more of this. I want to add them to my One Republic/Maroon 5 playlist.

Who They Are: The Aviators from Glasgow have gone from strength to strength in their short time together as a band. Self-releasing a three song EP early in the band’s career to a sold out Classic Grand audience which later went on sale in HMV stores nationally.

Sirens & Shelter – Breath

I love the lyrics to this song. The emotion this guy can deliver with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and his voice is rather amazing. Vocally I liked the natural breaks in his voice that paired with a semi gruffness. This isn’t one of those “smooth” singers and that is what makes this special. I would love to hear a version of this song with a full band behind him. While it might take away the intimate nature of the song in it’s current state, I think it would add a new level of wonderful.
 

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: My interest has been peaked for sure. I am interested in some other offerings to see where they may fit on my playlist.

Who They Are: Formed in the summer of 2012, Sirens & Shelter has toured the UK four times, performing with Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids), Allison Weiss, Dave McPherson, Luke Jackson, Hidden Cabins (USA), Ryan Mills (CAN), Giants (UK), The Satellite Year (GER), Hildamay, White Clouds & Gunfire, Sean De Burca, T // Alan, Swallow & The Wolf, 8 Foot Felix (AUS), Nizlopi and played shows in Spain on three occasions with Her Only Presence promoting a wealth of original, emotionally charged songs.

Sabrina Signs – Even if you’re crazy

This is a really sweet up beat tempo song. The vocalist has a really nice innocence to her voice that I think underscores the honesty of the song she is singing. This song doesn’t show off a really high register but I don’t think that’s necessary for this type of music. I think instead it’s more important to have that story and a beat you can dance to. If I had any complaints in this song then it would be that the lyrics weren’t as energetic as the music. I would love to see this track striped down and done as an acoustic song.

 

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: I know this is a dance track but I know several people I intent to share this song with for weddings. I’m not a particular fan of dance music but I can appreciate a good voice in any song. With that in mind I would go out and check out more of her stuff to see if there was some thing that really resonates with me.

Who They Are:
Now on Pandora and Spotify – Hitting the EDM scene hard, Sabrina’s background is quite diverse. She decided to be a recording artist early recording her cover of “Tainted Love” at 11, she has also wrote and co-produced “Halfway 2 Neptune” with GHouse by the time she was 12. Life threw curve balls to Sabrina the family finding themselves part of the great recession of 2009 Sabrina was homeless. Sabrina’s spirit only grew from the experience. In 2010 she was able to get back into a studio and recorded “Homeless” and a touching song to lighten the heart of her little brother called “Hey Anthony”. Sabrina continued to follow her heart in music, exploring all genres of music. In addition to being a teen advocate for the Homeless, Sabrina is also passionate about Teen Domestic Violence, having been a victim she wrote the song “Victim of Love”. By the time 2011 rolled by Sabrina had an album called “Phases” illustrating the growth and depth of this young lady.

Charlie B – Love Never Felt So Good

Why I Like Them: Wow, this guy sounds so much like Michael Jackson it’s unreal. Now taking that out of the equation I have to say this guy is extremely talented. His voice is so smooth and sweet with that wonderfully high register. I would love to see this cat collaborate with Usher or Pharrell Williams. I can imagine the kind of music they would come up with.

 

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: I’m not so much of a pop girl, but if you like pop music you have to check this guy out right now.

April 15th his first major performance in front of a live audience of over 1,000 students at a local university in Plainview Texas. Moon walking across stage, Charlie received a standing ovation. This was the start of something big for the budding entertainer. As Charlie B entered high school he began learning and working as a choreographer as well as he began taking choir, As he has surrounded himself with talented dancers, singers and soon producers, a great guideline was provided for him to follow.

Nou Enle – Romeo

Why I Like Them: No many acoustic acts make my radar. I am really glad this one did. This is truly a mellow treat for the ears. I dig the violin in this track, and how often do you get to say that? The vocalist is so damn strong, I really like the full resonance she has. The song has a Latin flavor to it that makes you want to sway those hips. I can only think of a couple of bands that employ an upright bass (Type O Negative, Stray Cats) and while this band’s sound is completely different then those bands they have every right to be listed alongside them.

 

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: This was a nice break from my standard listening styles. I think I would listen to more of it from time to time.

Reverse Order – Go

Who They Are: Reverse Order is a dynamic pop rock band that combines powerful teen anthems with driving guitars and infectious melodies. Their unique blend of two lead vocalists sets them apart from most bands in their genre. Coming together in 2008 the band has made a huge impact in the Northeast Region, and the Nation as a whole. Thriving through over 500 self-booked shows highlighted by two Bamboozle appearances, a Vans Warped Tour appearance, 5 national tours, and constant features on Local and National TV, Reverse Order is taking the music industry by storm.

Why I Like Them: They seem spunky to me! I love the upbeat rhythm of the song. I bet this is a ton of fun in an arena. I can see the crowd going absolutely nuts. I’m reluctant to give it the pop/rock label because I know how some people will take that. This isn’t brainless pop/rock at all. We have some solid lyrics and an awesome beat going on. I also gotta say that the guitar work is pretty sizzling. Though there is no double bass involved the drummer sounds like he’s working his ass off. Respect.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: Yes. I think they would be a great fit with my Maroon 5 list.

Why I Like Them: I love a song that can make me laugh. I knew when I saw the title of the song I had to pick this one. It’s got an awesome poppy rhythm that’s just fun to listen. Lyrically this song is perfection. The musical composition is nice and tight, as pop should be. I also liked the guys voice. It reminds me of some of the pop bands of the 60’s and 70’s. He just sounds so honest and sincere. I fits the song to a T. But again, for me 90% of this song is about it’s lyrics. Seriously check it out.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: If it’s half as good as this, then I’ll enjoy it twice as much as this one.

Who They Are: Full of passion, kind of nerdy, sort of mad-scientist-y but never pretentious– they’re a group of four guys that just want to have a good time with music, and to share that spirit with their listeners. They’ve got a sound that strikes a nostalgic cord with millennials, dishing out their own take on the soundtrack that defined generation Y’s childhood. In bonding over the music that they love and grew up with, clones of clones have created a musical byproduct that is both fresh and familiar.

Why I Like Them: Ok, so this band has a nice unique sound. I’m really enjoying the soaring vocals and almost wistful rhythm of the tune. Lyrically I can get on board with the story they are telling. I could see this song used in a movie soundtrack no problem. In one of the good parts of the movie, the part that makes you all happy inside. You know what I mean.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: Sure. I like unique.

Diamond Days – Home

Who They Are: Not much information on this band through the sites I looked up. If I can get a bio from them I will add it here.

Why I Like Them: Musically this song is Rise Against, while vocally it’s Fallout Boy. I think that is kinda awesome personally. I think I would appreciate a bit more grit in the vocals, but that is personal preference 100%. The song stands on it’s own just fine as is. I find myself tapping my toes as I write this, listening to the song for the second time. I also dug on the lyrics. The music and lyrics are a perfect match with no odd man out lines. You know what I mean? There is nothing worse than listening along to a song to get hit in the eardrums at 50 over a lyrical miss.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: Sure! I’ve got a list I’ve been building for a week or so now that would be a perfect home for this song.

Nathaniel Brant – So Far Away

Who They Are: Nathaniel spent several years in Nashville, TN writing songs (Country and Alternative) for major and independent label pitches. He has shifted gears now to create music for his debut album. He has already sold a few thousand cd’s and has played to several small and large crowds at various festivals and music venues in the midwest and the southeast.

Why I Like Them: While I’m not normally I country fan I gotta say for a song with a country vibe I am grooving on this one. It’s really uplifting and it gives you this wistful feeling. I personally found myself thinking of my own SO and how long we’ve been together. I appreciate how the vocalist here is so in touch with the lyrics he wrote. You can feel the emotions and the story.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: Yeah. I don’t have a playlist currently that he would fit under since it’s more of a country thing. I would however start a new playlist with songs that were either full on country or that awesome country/pop crossover.

Jet Black Sunrise – In Flight

Who They Are: Jet Black Sunrise is a 5-piece indie pop/rock from Boston, MA. They blend intricate harmonies with inspired rock arrangements to provide an eclectic listening experience and an energetic live show. With an EP on the horizon, indie label interest and plenty of local buzz, JBS plans to make waves in the coming years.

Why I Like Them: I love an epic guitar! This song starts out with a great one backed but some sweet drums and keyboard work. The intro sets a great tone and the beat slowly builds upon itself it leaves with you with this great anticipatory feeling that is paid off as soon as the vocals kick in. The vocalist at times reminds me of Jakob Dylan and then morphs off into Ryan Tedder.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: Sure, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It’s like a big musical hug!

Passport – Snowflake

Who They Are: Passport delivers more than just a band to listen to or watch. Every performance played and every song recorded comes from a desire to give the audience something to experience, believe in, and ultimately participate in. It’s hope brought in the form of rock.

Why I Like Them: OMG, this song is so sweet. I love the lyrics to this tune. I rarely get to gush about the writing because I’m a huge lyric snob. I admit it, most songs I find have some lyrical snafu’s. I can see putting this on my list with some One Republic, Coldplay, or even some Maroon 5. I love this guys voice, it’s smooth like butter man.  If you’re feeling down or blue this is the song you want to listen to to make you feel better. Excellent rhythm and so damn soulful.

 

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: Snowflake is off an upcoming 7 song EP. I’m planning on hitting these guys up on twitter so I can get the dates for the release of the album. Then I’m going  to buy it and listen daily.

Who They Are: I don’t really have any information about the band. If I can find a bio, I will get it posted ASAP.

Why I Like Them: This song has some really interesting things happening.  I like this girl’s voice. It’s got a groovy rough edge to it that makes it totally rock. I’m pretty sure I hear keyboards in there some where which is an interesting addition to this song. It has a good groove and hook so be careful, this ones likely to get caught in your head.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: I would be interested in listening to more rock offerings from this band.

Kevin Leyva – In Flames

Who They Are: I couldn’t find much information on Kevin but I’m hoping maybe I can get a bio together soon and update this information.

Why I Like Them: This guy has one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard. There is a grit there that so completely conveys the emotion behind this song. I like the fact that he knows when to pull back and when to really push through on those notes. Some thing a few lead singers I can think of could use. The guitar work is also pretty stellar if you ask me. How he isn’t on your radio right now it kinda beyond me.

Would I Listen to More of Their Stuff: In truth, I’ve already scoped out his youtube page and listened to his cover of Stone Sours Imperfect. Utterly amazing. In fact, why are you still reading this?
