I’m going to let you in on a little secret, from time to time I listen to country music. Not often mind you, but some times. This song is one reason that I do listen. I love her vocals, not overly twangy but certainly still country. She’s got a beautiful strength to her voice that really connects the listener to the lyrical content. I appreciate the music being mostly left in the background. The song is really all about the vocals and the content is so strong, but subtlety of the musical composition makes this song nothing short of beautiful.
I would love to hear more of their stuff. This song however will be hard to beat. My father has been battling cancer for several years now and this song really says a lot of how I feel about him. Just the fact that I was able to relate so easily to this track makes it a winner for me. Since I don’t have a lot of country music it’s hard for me to say who I would pair this song with. In my personal library I would probably put it with some of the down tempo pop songs I have and throw in some old Eagles tunes in as well.
