Loving the vocal style of this track! It’s got a lot of sarcasm and anger and I always like that. The guitar work is just fun as hell to listen to. It ranges from this grungy dirty style to a somewhat clean style. That drum line has me smiling from ear to ear! It’s a great up beat line that I am betting kills live. That drum work is just straight up on point! The lyrics are so solid and delivered perfectly.

I love everything about this song! It’s upbeat rhythm and the delivery of the lyrics is freaking great. I can see putting this on a list with Rise Against and Fall Out Boy. This one has all the elements of a radio darling. I want this tune so freaking bad. I will throw it on my server and on my phone ever so happily. It’s also got super sticky powers in that it’s already stuck in my head. I need lyrics so I can annoy everyone around me as I sing it as loudly as I can. Just go listen to this jam and love it!

Who They Are:

Third Place burst onto the music scene in February 2006, during the International Emergenza battle of the bands competition. The band celebrated its ﬁrst anniversary on the night of the Grand Finale at the legendary Medley concert hall, ﬁnishing 8th among the 250 other acts in the competition! The following year, Third Place ﬁnished 6th overall! The formation then realized that their real passion was performing on stage!

Known for its compelling, dynamic sound and bold performance chops, Third Place released a self-produced demo entitled, Keep Your Dream Alive (2008). The circulation of the album resulted in the rapid growth of the band’s fan-base (12 000 devoted fans on Facebook to date).

In November 2009, their ﬁrst single Look At Me Now reached the 66th position in the Top 100 Palmares Correspondant Anglophone. Furthermore, the videoclip plays regularly on MusiquePlus and MuchLoud obtaining 86,000 views on Youtube. Their second single Feel The Beat also was added in rotation on MusiquePlus and MuchLoud, and got 140, 000 Youtube views. In November 2010, Third Place launched their new album Lifeland (2010), which has sold more than 3150 copies since its release date.

Third Place was then noticed in many competitions, won Clictonband and Musiqualité in 2011 and got to share the stage with many artists, such as All Time Low, Yellowcard, Shinedown, Pennywise, Puddle of Mudd, Marie-Mai, Nofx and Martin Deschamps.

During the 2011 Canadian Music Week event, Third Place met a lot of new contacts in the music industry. They signed a record deal with the label ”Let Artists Be (L-abe)” and was distributed with ”Select distribution”. The record company offers to relaunch Lifeland adding two songs including a cover of You Can’t Hurry Love, originally recorded by The Supremes in 1966.

In 2012 and 2013, the band toured Ontario and Quebec. The boys are present in every related music event to promote their material. Third Place has done many interviews and live performances on MusiquePlus and MuchLoud. In the past year, Third Place has been working hard on writing new material and on the evolution of their sound with the renound producer Luc Tellier! Motivated, determined and deﬁnitely passionate about music, the band members of Third Place will stop at nothing. Their philosophy: one fan at a time!

Nikki Turley – Laid To Rest

Nikki Turley has a really interesting style. I wish the production had been a bit better because I think that had a slightly negative impact on the song. The music is a nice upbeat tempo so you could dance to it. I always like something I can shake it to. Personally I didn’t think that the lyrics and the music matched very well. I think that the lyrics might have worked a bit better with a slower tempo song.

I think it’s great that Nikki is out there rocking her ass off. However this just wasn’t the song for me. I spotted quite a few technical issues with the song. I always hate having to give a negative review because it takes balls to put yourself out there like this. I would be interested in checking out a few of her other songs to see if I just happen to catch an “off” song.

Kondor – Hostage

I don’t ever really get any music like this. I mean I’ve had a few tracks come through that had a pop vibe to them, but this is different. This is like a pop R&B contemporary mashup of the best kind. The vocals are like butter they are so smooth. There is a specific cadence to the delivery of lyrics that is making me crazy because it’s perfectly timed. Lyrically I’m in love with this track. Musically it’s a bit different with that echo style effect, but it works so well. The guitar solo in the middle of this track is worthy of Carlos Santana.

I listened to this track on repeat a few times. I didn’t need the additional listens to decide if I liked it or not, I liked it just fine on the first listen. I kept going because I just love it that much. I want to learn all the lyrics so I can sing along. This song reminds me of a lot of the slow jams of the 80’s. Music that at that time I really didn’t appreciate and to be honest I still don’t care for most of it. This track is different, while it pulls on a particular 80’s feel it’s not an 80’s tune. What this song is brings about an intimate feeling, just you and the music. I would actually put this on a list with some of my Santana stuff. I have a couple of K’s Choice songs I would put on a list with this one as well.

This is such a sweet song. I love the lyrics and the story they tell. This guy is good. It’s a complete 180 from what I’ve been listening to lately and I’m finding the lilt of his voice and his musical style to be exactly what I need right now. I love setting here listening to his voice and the music while I sway. It’s a great mid beat song. You’re not going to be hearing this one at the club, but for hanging out at home with your S/O it’s perfect. His voice is rich and full with just a touch of vulnerability to it. The music itself it the perfect accompaniment to his vocal style.

If you need a little boost during the day this is a must for your playlist. I feel all warm and happy after listening to this song. It’s the ray of sunshine everyone needs from time to time. I don’t really have a lot of feel good music in my library, something that I know must change after listening to this track. Actually I would want to pair this one up with a couple of other songs I’ve reviewed on the site. Avery Davis, Nate Maingard and Brett Vogel would be my top choices.

Who They Are:
I grew up in Shoreline, Washington, a now large city just north of Seattle. I started playing the violin in 5th grade and have been attached to it ever since. For 17+ years I have been practicing not only the violin, but also the guitar, bass, harmonica and many other instruments. I sing in most of my self written and produced songs that I have recorded in my apartment music studio. I have collaborated with other artists including David “JP” Moynahan and America LaVonne. Being that I listen to everything from reggae to country, I blend many different genres of music into my songs – this makes it hard for me to designate one genre for my music. In the long run, I hope to achieve not only a possible career in music, but also the creation of a completely new genre of music. With that said, I hope you enjoy my music!

Hedon – Annihilation

This particular song is one of those that is a bit out of my comfort zone, so it’s really fun to review. I don’t listen to a lot of thrashy, growly tracks so I always welcome the opportunity to listen to new songs when I can. I think this is a pretty awesome jam. The dirty vocals are really dark and evil sounding with some amazingly fast lyrical runs. There are also some areas with clean style vocals. Let’s talk about the musical composition for a minute. I love the way it has some swells and falls. I think it makes for a much more interesting piece of music. The guitar work is pretty furious with a lot of killer riffs. The drum work is top notch and keeps a heavy ass pace for the rest of the players to follow.

When it comes to exploring new styles of music it’s all too easy to end up hearing bad bands and thinking the genre sucks. Luckily for me doing these reviews I’m in a position where I can can’t take that stand. Hedon’s song is really well done. I like all the elements individually and as a whole. Honestly I would really like to hear more of their work. As to this particular song I would love to have a copy of it to play on the radio show.

Strength In Shadows – War Machine

Ok, this song is nothing but fun from the get go. The guitar work is absolutely stellar, the drums are fast and thunderous. I’m in freaking love with the clean and dirty vocals. This is a fast and furiously upbeat rock your ass song. The bridge where is slows down just a bit (mostly in the vocal style) really is working for me. It’s just the momentary break that you need. When it picks back up your ready for it to kick your ass again. There is a sweet ass guitar solo in the middle that will blow your mind. This guy is good and I don’t mean just good, I mean great. There is so much fret work going on I’m getting finger cramps right now. This is like the best of the 80’s stlye rock with today’s metal influence.

This may well be the perfect song. I could put it on a list with everyone from HIM to Stone Sour back to some classic Motley Crue and Skid Row. I need this song on my phone and my server. I neeeeed to be able to take this track with me everywhere I go so I can make people listen to it. I’m not going to stick to a genre here, all I’m going to say is if you like music you should be listening to this song right now.

Wild Horse – No Name

This song has some serious Rolling Stones influence going on. A lot of it comes from the vocalist who is channeling Mick. But it’s not just a stones influence that can be felt, it’s got just a touch of punk to it as well. I feel that most in the delivery of the lyrics, they have an almost sarcastic tone. Musically this is a great piece. I really dig those drum rolls and the guitar work is fairly simple but incredibly effective. It allows the vocals to shine and the drums to be a present force without fading in the background of the song.

Did I like it, why yes I did! I would love to put it on a list with my favorite Stones songs like Honky Tonk Woman. I do get a touch of nostalgia listening to it. I would love to listen to some of their other work to see what else they have going on. Overall for those into classic rock you can’t go wrong with this track.

Who They Are:
Formed in April 2013 by two brothers, Henry & Jack Baldwin & their friend, Ed “Barking” Barnes, after playing in various combinations at “Rock School” sessions provided by their school Heathfield Community College.

The combination of the three instantly worked forming a talented and skilled band with massive stage presence & ability. They have a shared love of the best in R&B taking their influences from the greats such as, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, The Who, Neil Young etc. and are not afraid to experiment with Reggae & punk influences to give a unique sound & depth to their own songs.

Their first gig was on May 20th 2013 at The Six Bells, Chiddingly where their version of Free Bird caused a sensation with the audience giving the band their first encore at their first gig. With the Hendrix like antics of Jack, The Moon like drumming of Ed & the solid skilled guitar of Henry, Wild Horse showed instantly that they aren’t like anything seen for a very long time.

Wild Horse regularly spend time in a professional studio where they have recorded enough tracks for their first album, due for release in November 2014 & including many Wild Horse original tracks as well as some favourite covers. The band are already working on the material for a second album & will start to record shortly.

From versions of the great R&B standards to their own songs, Wild Horse have been captivating audiences gig after gig, and now with Henry on vocals the package is almost complete.

In 2014, Wild Horse were recognised by being the nomination for “Rock The House” for the Bexhill & Battle area by MP Greg Barker.

Aged between 12 to 15 years old the future potential of this group is limitless.

Heart Impaled – Rotation

Wow this one just jumps right on in there and starts kicking your ass from the first note. Now that is what you need for your alarm clock! I would call this a driving pace but that doesn’t even seem to be adequate. I feel like my heart is going to explode out of my chest if I don’t get up and do something soon the energy of this track is that intense. The percussion just never lets up, I mean this guy could go toe to toe with the best drummer you can think of and then kick his ass. The guitar work blazes by so fast, I can’t for the life of me imagine playing this. It’s hard and heavy taking no prisoners or making any apologies for what it is.

Seriously, is this what a heart attack feels like? Oh my god… I feel like I should do some stretches or something so I don’t hurt any muscles. I loved it! Despite the fact that this song has no lyrics, I loved it. I can’t see how any vocalist could keep up with the musical composition any way. I need to get this song. I have to have it, it’s a moral imperative. And you should listen to it too.

Who They Are:

Continuously evolving metal act, Heart Impaled. First started by as an entirely electronic project created for the purpose of putting music to PC games in 2001. Around 2003-2004 a heavy emphasis on guitars, sampling and distortion was added to achieve a heavier tone. 2005, onward live instrumentation and the crossover into the metal genre proceeded.

Influenced by the sounds of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Meshuggah, Anthrax, Testament, Soilwork, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Black label Society, White Zombie and many others. Also video game music and movie soundtracks.

My goal is to make video games based on metal albums.
And to make metal albums based on video game ideas.

To bring these multiple arts together through music. The purpose is to possibly inspire the creation of something beyond just the music itself. Books, games, animation. A plugging into a sound of hard and heavy music to inspire new media. Completely influenced by the use of hard music to blur the lines between the two and altogether create this unique genre that takes metal to this next generation of the metal fans who didn’t exactly grow up reading just about dragons and superhero comic books, but playing video games, watching movies, animation and listening to the metal.

RavenCroft – Greed

Nice dirty guitars always make me smile. The vocals are pretty sweet as well. They remind me of some of the 80’s rock I love so much. Oh yea, that is a total 80’s scream right there. The guitar work is tight as hell with a serious love for down and dirty. My favorite thing may well be the drums though. I do love a good percussion line. There isn’t anything that they are doing anything different in that vein, just doing it right. The timing is perfect and the drum line allows the guitar and the bass to do this awesome Vulcan mind meld thing.

So what I’m saying to you is if you have a love for 80’s rock then you have to give this track a listen. As far as the retro 80’s style bands this is one of the best. They managed to take the best of the 80’s and make them all shiny and new with some modern techniques. So nothing here sounds stale or like you’ve heard the song before. That always bums me out.

GutterLIFE – Pursuit Of Hopelessness

Thank you, thank you so much for making this song. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this track. It’s perfectly punk/metal! The guitar work is amazing. It’s fast and tight with just the right amount of grunginess to the playing style. The drums are thunderous and totally in your face. This particular track breaks tons of the laws of music but that is what makes this song. It’s got a totally chaotic nature running from upbeat to down tempo but always with pure punk flair. The vocals are exactly what you would want from a punk/metal song. Very rage filled and delivered with perfect conviction.

Can I please have this song? I will play it here, I will play it there, I will play it anywhere. I gotta have this on my phone and my server. Additionally I wanna kick people’s ass with this one on the radio show! There wasn’t anything here that I could pick on and say needs work. All it needs is to be in one of my playlist with some Rise Against and Imminent Riot!
