War Within – Look Away

Ok, it got my attention from the first chord. Reminds me a bit of Godsmack on steroids. I love the dark mid tempo pacing of the track. The dirty guitar works perfectly with those taunting drums. This guys vocals are incredible. Just the right amount of grit at the perfect moments. I also appreciate the cleaner style of vocals as well. But for me this is all about that guitar. Sure there is some hot dogging in the solo, but that’s where it should be. And if this guy has the chops to play the way he does, why not highlight it? I wasn’t able to catch all the lyrics on this one, but in a rather rare situation I just don’t care. I find the vocal track to be another instrument in the overall composition of the song. Every thing seems to work together so well that it all flows with out any thing overly taking over. I’m just really partial to the guitar line because it reminds me of some of my favorite guitar lines from the 80’s.

I loved this song more than enough to check out some of their other tunes. Their guitarist gives me goose bumps listening to his riffs. I think this would work for any song that has a solid guitar line, a groovy dark vibe or a deep drum track. I’m sick with a head cold today so I’m having a hell of at time thinking of songs or artist to pair it up with. Maybe you guys can provide some suggestions in the comments section below.

ELTEEZY – Hood Lampin

I like the disclaimer in the beginning. It’s got a great flow and I have to say this is the first rap song I’ve heard that I was able to listen to the lyrics and not get complete turned off to the lyrics. That might be due to the disclaimer but honestly I think it’s a good story. The back beat is solid but the scaled beeps kinda throw me off just a bit. I get that it adds to the overall of the song as the harmony though. Well thought out, I was just behind the 8 ball on that aspect.

I appreciate the story that’s being told, and there was a great connection to the lyrics. I don’t see myself adding it to any of my libraries only because I’m just not into that genre. I will be sharing this with my rap loving friends because I thought it was a solid rap track. Fans of the genre should check this track out and give me your feedback in the comments section below.

Elteezy Songwriter/ Record Producer/Actor Elteezy (born on May 6, 1975) in Detroit, in the Wayne County area, better known by his stage name “Elteezy”, is an Talented hip hop artist, Songwriter, record producer, engineer, and actor. He began his career as a member of the hip-hop group in Detroit Da Worldz One & Only as a D.J. and producer. He also was apart of another Group with three other child hood friends and they performed at talent showcases hosted by Candy Productions. After leaving the group in 1996 he built a successful solo career in music, and also as a writer, In his early teens, Elteezy developed an interest in music, and began writing raps in Denby/Finney High School’s during class. Elteezy dropped out in the 10th grade due to gang involvement and getting into trouble going in and out of Jail. He attended Mott High Adult Educational where he obtained his GED in 1996, and studied Business math. Elteezy did Mic battles at Club 808 & C-Note Lounge in Detroit. In 2000 Elteezy moved to Sacramento, CA. to shop his demo after no success at that time he decided to just keep pushing independent. Elteezy then went on the road where he met up with Scoob Serious in 2003, which was at the Radio Station promoting their singles and doing radio interviews at the same time. Scoob Serious soon entered the recording industry; Scoob saw Elteezy’s potential as a writer and had him assist with writing on the song “Get God In You” on the “Off wit the Mask” album, as well as joining Elteezy on a side partnership which the duo produced a record, “CITY OF MACADORNIA” released on Visionalize Records/Totally Enthrall Records/ Interscope in 2010.
Music career 1989-Present Elteezy has been WRITING & recording SINCE 1989. Elteezy is a member of ASCAP SINCE 2005. In 1989 Elteezy recorded his first EP (Lost in the Flow), In 2003 was signed on with Lazy Boss Records as the street team selling other artist merchandise out the trunk of a Van and Tahoe city to city, state to state.
In 2005 Elteezy sold 10,000 copies of his album (I wish I was a Mack). 2013 Elteezy released the acclaimed EP, (My Gutt-ish) which sold well; becoming the first hip hop EP to get him noticed by the industry executives. Jukebox Monkey – Dead Wait

My initial thoughts were “I love that dirty guitar sound”! Also loving the slow burn tempo on the drum line. I’m certainly feeling a sense of anticipation. So so the vocals are the payoff on this song. There is something so freaking Tool about the way the guy sings it’s insane. There is a bit of grit to his voice that seems to be at his beck and call. Bringing it out for the versus then reeling it back on the chorus was a brilliant move. I also noted a few perfectly timed vocal breaks that work so well with the overall song. I would say this qualifies as a hard rock tune due to the steady mid tempo drum line and the guitar style. All the players work together to create the perfect storm of rock music, complete with a Rock Band worth guitar solo.

JukeBox Monkey is going on my server and my phone. There was so much that I liked about this track it’s hard to put into words. I could queue this up with some Tool or Theory of a Deadman and it would work so well with either. It has an odd floaty sense that I love in music. It makes me want to do nothing more than sit and sway while listening. Make sure you check this one out or your going to be sorry!

David Miller – Sweetheart Girl

This is a very sweet tune. It’s got a groovy mellow rhythm that you can sway to. It has almost a lullaby effect with the musical composition. There is a lot of rich layering with the various instruments. I kinda feel like this is a throwback of sorts to the progressive country songs of the 70’s. Not just in the musical composition but in the true narrative of the lyrics. This is a story set to music and it’s a wonderful story to boot. The vocals are really soothing and match the lyrics and musical composition perfectly. David has a great sense of works together.

I thought this was a perfect soundtrack song. I think some thing like Princess Bride or Ever After would be a perfect compliment to the style of the song. Personally I don’t listen to a lot of music like this. My son tells me it’s because I’m missing a certain gene. However this would be the perfect song for a proposal. Flowers, a nice candle lit dinner and this as the background music as you pop the question. I mean come on, every thing you need to say is in this song.

After years of working simultaneously in both television broadcasting and the TV theme & jingle business, David Miller is releasing his debut album of new songs. David’s official website for news, downloads & photos.

And like most of his projects, he’s doing it a bit differentially. Rather than releasing an album all at once, he is sharing new singles (about one every month) until the album is complete. As each song is mastered, they will be available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon as well as directly from the official store at http://www.DavidMiller.TV/ Releasing singles one at a time will allow the audience to share in the creation of the album. Through social media listeners can comment on exactly what they like and what they want to hear in future songs.

Collectively, the singles are an eclectic mix of pop, rock, and orchestral styles and themes. David explains, “One thing that commercial music teaches you is how to sound like anything and everything all at the same time. One day you are producing something quirky and sweet, then the next day it’s a blend of R&B and symphonic.” David’s music is a mashup of analog and digital . . . featuring a large variety of acoustic instruments along with many one of a kind virtual instruments created for his own sample library. David says, “Every song is different. I try to make each song unique and special. About the only real thread through this album is the voice.” When asked about his writing style he says, “It’s all about the melody . . . simple, memorable melodies that stick in your head . . . That’s what drives me.”

It was at the age of six when David Miller started playing music on an organ made for kids. He was writing short songs and performing them for his first grade class. At seven, he began taking drum lessons. By the age of fifteen he was playing drums, piano and guitar, and recording his own songs in his bedroom. As a kid, David loved playing drums. In high school he was an award winning jazz soloist. He was the drummer for “Young Sounds”, a jazz band made up of elite high school musicians.

David grew up surrounded by the broadcasting and music businesses. His uncle is Jack Miller, a pioneering recording engineer who has recorded The Rolling Stones, Waylon Jennings, Duane Eddy, and hundreds of other top stars. David’s father Bill Miller is an award winning writer, producer, journalist and entrepreneur. He’s had a successful career, in broadcast television, radio, print, and digital media. David’s Grandfather was a Banjo player who spent his life in the printing & advertising business. David has done just about every job you can do in the media business. Working in broadcasting since high school, he has been a video editor, writer, producer, photographer, 3D animator, web developer, and music producer. David is a partner in MagicDust Television, developers of the Nationally syndicated daily TV show “RightThisMinute.” He also operates IdeaFarm, a commercial production music business with a large catalog of broadcast TV show/news themes, commercial tracks and jingles. It is hard to imagine that with a history of so many shows and so many tracks, that David has never released an album of full length songs. David says, “I had always hoped to someday release an album, but I spent all my time and energy writing and producing 30 second themes for TV. It was a good way to help support my family. For all those years, making jingles seemed more responsible than singing songs and making albums.” But all of that is changing. The album project is well underway and new singles are being released.

Today, David is still married to his high school sweetheart, Kay. Together they have raised two amazing and talented sons, Adam and Ian. They all live happily ever after in Arizona along with a border collie, a siamese cat and two horses.

Franck CARAT – Lullaby

I am really enjoying the female vocals on this track! Reminds me a bit of some of the brilliant 80’s vocalists from bands like Swing Out Sister and T’Pau. I also love the guitar line, just like I like it nice and tight. Plus there is that gorgeous horn work. Listening to this track I definitely feel like I should get up off my ass and dance. That’s saying quite a bit since I can’t dance to save my life. Personally I keep coming back to the vocal track. It’s so sweet I think I got a tooth ache from listening to it. If there was any aspect of the song I didn’t love it was the syth sounding back beat. I think that comes down to a personal preference. I realize that a lot of dance music has this style of back beat and while I do respect it, I always find myself thinking it would have been better with a drum kit.

I am quite curious about Franck’s music. I love the upbeat nature of this song and as I said I am totally taken with the female vocalist and the guitar line. I don’t listen to a lot of dance music so when it comes to building a playlist I would pair this up with some of the old 80’s pop tunes that I loved as a kid. For fans of dance genre I think you’ll enjoy this track. Give it a listen and share your thoughts in the comments section below!

UVtraveler – Day After Day

For those of us who love classic rock this is a winner! It reminds me a bit of KISS or at least that was the first band that jumped into my head. I think maybe it’s the bass style along with the guitar work that really put that idea in my head. The vocals are way solid with a nice full round sound. I like that this guy sings in a higher register. It’s nice to hear from time to time especially since most of what I hear is a lower end growling vocal. The drum work is also really tight. While I wouldn’t call this a blistering song it’s still an upbeat tune. Love the guitar solo so freaking much!!

This song certainly had my toes a tappin! I think anyone who is a fan of classic rock is going to love this song. But not just classic rock fans, because this song doesn’t feel dated. Perhaps it’s the guitar solo that gives it a modern feel. All I know is this is a great track. I would love to put it on a list with my classic tracks but also throw it in the mix with some Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman and bands like that. Mostly because those bands have really solid guitar lines and I would bank it off that similarity right there. Regardless of who you put it on a list with your going to love it.

Victor And The Bully – There’s No Sadness Holding An Ice Cream

Oh why this has such a wonderfully quirky vibe to it! This is just so much fun and retro it damn near can’t stand it in the best way. Listening to this track it’s impossible to believe that there are only two guys in the band. I keep getting this whole 20’s/30’s vibe from the style of the music. The vocal styling are almost beyond my ability to describe. It’s oh so cool! Uke’s never sounded so damn cool as they do in this song (sorry Eddie Vedder, you’ve been Uke owned!) The musical composition has so much movement it’s a treat to listen to the whole song just to see where the ride takes you.

Much like this review, the music was all over the place, but it was so awesome I wouldn’t want to see a single note changed. For those of us who love unique music this is what you’ve been looking for. It’s fun, upbeat and retro as hell. I have nothing on my playlist save for one Offpring song called “When your in Prison” (which really only shares the retro vibe with this song) that would be a genera fit. However I would find as many funky upbeat songs as I could to make a list for this song to rest on.

Bringing a different vibe to the local scene with just 2 artists but the sounds of a big band, Victor and the Bully try a different type of sounds with only a Ukulele and Guitar with a whole lot of thunder behind them. Using violins, trumpets, pianos, accordions and anything we can get our greasy hands on to create a big and theatrical show.

Autumn Stay – Sheep

Ummm… hell ya! I love the thundering drums in the intro of this song. As it breaks into the first verse the vocals kick in and I would love to know where this songbird has been hiding all my life. She has such a strong full voice and a great ability to connect with the lyrics. The vocals are smooth as silk but she can pull off an edgier angry style as well. There is something almost ethereal about her style. The guitar work is so bad ass. It’s not an overly complicated line, but it is done with such precision and grace that a complicated line isn’t necessary in the least little bit. The fact that it’s all backed by that brilliant drum work is just the topping on the Sunday that is this song.

Would I listen to more? Oh hells to the yea! I loved every thing about this song. It had a perfect balance between the music and the vocals. I could put this on a list with Halestorm, Forever Still, some of the heavier Stone Sour and Stitched up Heart. In fact I would just about kill to see a ticket with Forever Still, Autumn Stay and Stitched Up Heart. That would be one hell of a show I tell ya. Any way the short and skinny of it all is if you aren’t listening to this song you are just plain missing out on some excellent music.

Who They Are:
Autumn Stay consists of 5 very talented musicians in the Waco, Tx area. Dani Blizzard (vocals), Zak Clarke(drums), Stephen Troyce Harold Douglas(lead guitar), Cade Elms (rhythm guitar) and Ryan Herwald(bassist). The band formed in February of 2011 when Dani moved to Killeen with her roommate, Zak. She thrives on music and decided it was killing her not following her dream by forming a band and writing music. Zak agreed that he would love to play drums again and that’s when the search began.
Shortly after searching the members were found and Autumn Stay was formed. Autumn Stay is more than just about writing music. Every song written has been inspired lyrically by true events, and every riff written expresses a different emotion that they couldn’t convey with words. Autumn Stay expresses themselves in the best way they can, through their music.

Where You Can Get It:

Samantha Preis – Our World

Though this song is hastaged at pop, I found it to be a bit more jazz/soulful piano. I don’t mean that as a negative statement either. I love how her voice is softly framed with the simple background music of piano and a very soft drum beat that is barely there. It’s got me in a wistful kind of mood. Her voice is the real gem here, it’s strong, sweet and carries a lot of soul. My first thought was it reminded me of the music from one of those Charlie Brown Christmas cartoons back in the 80’s due to the piano in the intro of the song.

I enjoyed all the elements of this song. The lyrics were solid and the music a perfect accompaniment to her vocal abilities. I have a fairly limited knowledge of this genre of music. However I do enjoy Billy Joel from time to time. I could easily fit this song on a list with some of his slower, down tempo works. It really strikes me as one of those songs you listen to on a rainy day as you sit by the window and contemplate life.

Where You Can Get It:

John Taglieri – Fly

I love the guitar work, it’s not a complicated line but it’s a lot more than just the standard country line. There is some thing about his voice though that at times really makes me think of Jon Bon Jovi. It’s the same rich full tone that Jon has when he sings. I also love the higher notes that this John is able to rock in in an effortless style. The drum line takes a nice backseat to feature the vocals and guitar. Loving the arrangement going on, that totally rock bridge is brilliant in the midst of what most would call a country song. Lyrically this is a really “up” song. I mean if you don’t feel a sense of empowerment after listening to this song, get your feel good looked at.

I enjoyed this song well enough I would certainly listen to his songs for entertainment only purposes. As I mentioned before I see some solid similarities to J.B.J that I would pair this with some Bon Jovi tunes, some Daughtry and 3 Doors Down. I would call it my feel good list and put it on every time I’m feeling down. I would love to get a chance to see John play live.

With his twelfth release, Days Like These, John Taglieri defines why his career is right where he wants it to be. He has shown that musicians can make a comfortable living in the 2000’s without being a household name and relying on major label advances just to get through the years. He has an equal balance of career and family life and he is living both sides of the coin to the absolute extreme.

It’s finding that great balance which led Taglieri to Days Like These. “I’m very lucky” says Taglieri. “I have had an amazing career which has led me to amazing places. My wife and new baby are a fantastic support base and allow me to be all I can be musically.” The record adds to that balance with a great mix of upbeat material and ballads…songs about life and the ins and outs of it. “”Days Like These” was written the day my wife and I found out we were having a baby and truly talks about the amazing feeling of becoming a dad. ‘Finish Line’ is that song that I’ve always wanted to write…realizing that you need the downs in life to really appreciate the ups and how high they can go, and that its not where you’re going in life, but what you do along the way that really matters. ‘Toasting The Man In The Moon’ is a very introspective song. Sitting and thinking about life and all it offers and realizing that sometimes you only have to look at yourself to find the answers. This was a really fun Ep to write and one I’m really proud of.”

With the new Ep, Taglieri returns to his roots in a way. It’s his first full on melodic rock release since his debut album, Leap of Faith in 1999. Since then he’s explored the singer/songwriter format, pop music and with his last Ep, ‘Southern Paradise,’ he tackled his country side. “Its always been fun seeing what I can do. I’ve been called a bit schizophrenic as a writer since I have sort of gone all over but I like that. Ya never really know what to expect from one of my releases.”

For the Days Like These release, Taglieri recruited Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Elton John, Bob Seger, etc), Alan Jax Bowers (Parrot Bay, Rachel Allyn) , Rich Redmond (Jason Aldean, Ludacris, Kelly Clarkson, etc), Lee Turner (Darius Rucker, Sara Evans, Big and Rich), Eric Ragno (Alice Cooper, Paul Stanley, Billy Gibbons, etc), Joe Gilder, Greg Juliano (Juliano Brothers), Chad Cunningham and Keith Lubrant (whose music you have heard on TV shows such as Real Housewives of Miami, Beavis and Butthead, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Young and the Restless and dozens more). “Its been SO cool to have my friends help me make this EP. Keith and I go back 15 years and started out together. Eric and I grew up together and its like life coming full circle. Its also amazing to me to be able to have some of my idols like Kenny Aronoff and Rich Redmond on this release. Its been very surreal to be working with them and really part of what my ‘Days Like These’ is about.”

One thing that has come up over the years is why John prefers to release Ep’s rather than full albums anymore, a practice he began in 2008 with his ‘Everything We Are’ Ep. “I sorta of saw the writing on the wall with how fans were wanting more than just one release a year. Two Eps was the same output but feeding the fans more regularly, engaging and building a great relationship with them.”

Becoming a father hasn’t slowed John’s touring schedule down a bit. He will still put over 200 shows on the books in 2014 and is once again slated to cross oceans to perform for the troops “Its been my honor to perform for the troops around the world for several years now and I’m looking forward to it always being a part of my career.” He also still has a residency in Key West, FL, where he performs every other month and he will once again hit the pubs, cafes and clubs of the Northeastern US and Mid Atlantic area to support Days Like These. “I LOVE being on the road. I’m looking to expand even more on where I’m touring in the coming year. Key West will always be a big part of it since I spend 6 months a year there. Its unlike any place I’ve ever played and has helped me really build my fan base.”

If everyone had days like these the world would be a much happier place.

While very reminiscent of Bullet For My Valentine they have their own style and flavor that has to be heard. I love the percussion they are rocking. Nice heavy hitting double bass with a solid core. Those double bass runs are just this side of perfection! The vocals are so fucking solid with some nice clean vocals backed up with some epic screaming vocals. I defy you to play that guitar solo on Rockband. It’s got all kinds of energy and serious movement. The speeding scale work was very well done indeed.

I would totally listen to more of this band. For those of us who live for metal this is a must have track. You could pair it with some Slipknot, FFDP, BFMV, Butcher Babies and Avenged Sevenfold and be a happy little camper. I’m thinking I need to get a copy of this song on my phone as well as my server since I can think of 10 people off the top of my head that need to hear this jam. Did you love it? Curses – Lies Like Tides

Loving the funky intro so much. It’s dark, it’s carny it’s just plain fun. The equally dark dirty vocals are extremely well done. Oh my God, there are clean vocals in this track as well, and they are beautiful! I love the back and forth nature of the two vocalists. It adds a brilliant depth to this song. The drums thunder along at a good clip and the drummer knows when to go hard and when to back it off. The guitar is almost lost during certain parts of the song due to the dirty vocals but then they come barreling at you with both guns blazing.

This is not a matter of if I want to listen to more of their stuff, it’s a matter of I have to listen to more. I loved everything about this song. I loved the vocals so freaking much. I can’t even form coherent sentences to sum up my feelings about those voices. Then there is the music which is thundering and dark and a bit devilish. I think you could match this song up with just about any thing and every thing that rocks ass. My mind is racing as I consider everything from old Metal to Nu Metal. You just gotta listen to it.

Sanguine – Rebel Yell

I’m a huge fan of the original Billy Idol version of this song so I was stoked to do this review. The music is absolutely spot on with just a few modifications to make this their own song. The most important aspects of this song were kept in place like the grungy, fiery guitar work and the thundering drum line. I also liked the idea of having a layered duet vocal line. The male vocalist has the perfect bit of grit to his voice making his vocals a perfect marriage with the song. The female vocalist has a very strong voice which is necessary to keep in line with that guy. This song has a lot of power to it so you have to have balls (vocally) in order to carry it. I thought the dueling vocalist did a good job throughout the song however I did feel like there were times where it felt flat at the top end.

I loved the power and the overall vocal styling of this track. The little things I thought were off weren’t enough to put me off this band. I would love to listen to more of their work because all the players know what they are doing. I would mix up a playlist a bit by putting this with some other 80’s rock hits and then throw in some heavier styles mostly because of the speed and power of the song itself.

Sanguine are a four piece female fronted alt-metal rock band from the UK. Formed by singer Tarin Kerrey in Exeter , this rock band blazed a quick and fiery trail in the Southwestern UK playing powerful live shows that garnered praise from Rock Sound and Metal Hammer, and even attracted the attention of metal legends Joey Jordison (Slipknot) and Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden). Smith would later ask Tarin to guest vocal on his Primal Rock Rebellion project, which was released worldwide in 2012.
2012 was a busy year for the band: They self-released an appropriately self-titled and self-produced record at the start of the year, supported Megadeth in London, played Download Festival, flew out to Ibiza to play Hard Rock Hell, and ended the year in frosty Sweden recording their debut studio album “Black Sheep”. The album was produced and mixed by Swedish genius Daniel Flores, mastered by Mats Lindfors, and includes a collaboration on two tracks courtesy of In Flames guitarist Jesper Stroemblad.
In 2013, the band made some final adjustments to their live set, re-tooled their line up with the incorporation of Ross Andrew on bass, and went back on the road supporting Cancer Bats, The Defiled, and California Rockers OPM. With their debut album in their pocket, Sanguine are taking on the world like a brutal punch to the face…delivered by a girl.
